Our mission statement is "Serving God by Serving Others," which we try to do in numerous ways. We participate in the Room in the Inn program, which provides food and shelter for some of the homeless population of the city twice a month. We have a plant sale every spring to benefit Habitat for Humanity and have been involved in numerous Habitat Builds. We support Monroe Harding and Martha O'Bryan, along with other local social service agencies. Through our benevolence giving, we support the programs and mission of the PC (USA), including, but not limited to, hunger ministry, disaster relief, the self-development of people, ministry to at-risk youth and young adults, peacemaking and world missions. Many individuals within the church are actively involved in volunteer service to the community, such as delivering Meals on Wheels, teaching computer skills to senior citizens, reading in public schools, and working with the Red Cross and other service agencies. One of our members, a doctor, spends a month in Kenya each year, doing orthopedic surgery. Our youth have been involved in mission trips and projects over the past several years. We also provide classroom space for the Hillwood Playcare, a NAEYC accredited program serving children from 6 weeks of age to Pre-Kindergarten.
